I went to Banff last week and it made me realize what it means to be Canadian.
Through my travels to Europe, Asia, India, Australia, New Zealand... etc. I realized the beauty found in these places that I thought this country lacked.
It can be hard to appreciate something when its so close to home.
I have realized that looking and seeing are two words in a parallel universe.
During the 2010 Olympics I watched more Canadian television than I have ever watched. The Molson Canadian ad campaign as well as the Tim Horton's proud to be Canadian campaign made me see just how beautiful Canada really is.
It takes a lot for an ad to stir up emotions in a person and these ads did just that.
Then going to Banff (while trying to appreciate all the mini moments along the way... of course)...
the beauty, the serenity, the amazingness...
Its funny because for the first time saying that I am a Canadian actually means something to me.
